What are Robo-Managers?
Robo-Managers provide organisations with a way to delegate tasks to 3rd party service providers without handing over any assets. For example, a Robo-Manager can implement investment strategies on assets held by an organisation, without taking custody of those assets. They work within the parameters set by the policies on the managed account, which can include transaction limits and permitted / excluded recipients.
Robo-Managers can be human asset managers, professional traders, bots, AI or some combination thereof. Their job is simply to execute on your behalf from your Salt account.
Account owners can turn off a Robo-Manager’s permission to transact on the account at any time.
Tips when choosing a Robo-Manager
- Before adding a Robo-Manager to your organisation, it’s your responsibility to do due diligence on them. You are effectively hiring them to do a treasury management job for your organisation.
- Fees are not yet automated by Salt. You may need to reach out to the Robo-Manager’s creator / provider to learn about their fees.
- Robo-Managers may only work with a particular asset or assets.
- If you add a Robo-Manager to your account, you are giving them the ability to do any transactions on the account within the limits of your policies on that account. It’s very important to set policies such that the Robo-Managers cannot transfer assets to themselves or others that you don’t approve.
How to use a Robo-Manager on Salt
- In the Organisation’s Collaborator section, add the Robo-Manager as a collaborator on the Organisation using their account address (0x…. ). Set them up with the Agent access level.
- Create a new Account with the Robo-Manager as a co-signer. They will be able to view and transact on this account, however they won’t be able to see your Organisation’s full portfolio.
- Move assets into the account for the Robo-Manager to transact with.
- If you toggle them off they will no longer be able to transact on the account. The Robo Guardians will not be instructed to co-sign transactions created by an inactive Robo-Manager.
Turning off a Robo-Manager
To turn off a Robo-Manager, use the toggle on the dedicated Account page.
As soon as you toggle off the Robo-Manager, they lose the ability to transact from the Account in your organisation, enforced by policies.
To remove a Robo-Manager from your organisation, find them on the Collaborators page and click the trash can icon. This will mark them inactive. It will not remove them from the accounts. To be safe, you should remove all money from accounts they are a cosigner on and stop using those accounts, even if they are toggled off.
